Gene isn't perfect, but he's the main reason Barry has been able to confront a lot of his inner demons.And anyway, Barry is his in worst state mentally right now because of Fuchs.I'm not going to read this, but Gene>Fuchs.I want Fuches dead because ultimately I want Barry to be able to change and stop killing people. He was a gate keeper in story telling (I think). To me, Fuches is the devil on his shoulder and Gene is kind of like this moral compass for him and someone who helps him out. If it ever came down to it - I would want Gene to die and leave the show over Fuches. I think that’s the running in joke of the Hollywood vibe, pure unadulterated self-absorption. The show FEEEEEDS off the of aftermath from peoples lives and how everything swirls together in the center and youre just staring at it. !Gene provides Barry with emotional support and allows him to be vulnerable and explore what there is inside of himself besides violence.
Gene is just fucking there to guide him into the world of what he can achieve if wants to become a better person. Point is him being alive makes the show about all 3 people then (fuches, barry, gene) and the story is only about barry.
He sees the acting class, Gene starts mentoring him, boom he meets Sally.
